The story was very good and is the only reason I read this third installment. After spending the second book watching Freya pass out or take naps ever third paragraph, I had high hopes that Rise of the Seven would take me back to the bigger story. The action was great but I spent a good deal of time trying to understand all of the 'knowing looks' being shared with zero context clues.This book felt more like a very early draft that was intended to get the main ideas down. It is lacking all of the rich detail that would allow me to be there with the characters.

I have enjoyed all these books. This one seems to be a bit more complete. Characters, storylines all filled out more. Thanks Ms. Wright. I will enjoy the next in the series for sure.
Frey Saga #3 A great follow-on to "Frey" and "Pieces of Eight". The plot and the characters finally coalesce into an integral whole. Their motivations and inter-relationships are exposed. Like the earlier books, the author's narrative and style held me focused. I loved this book.
A startling lack of continuity. I found myself being lost more often than not... This series needs more editors. I'm done, I won't being reading anymore about these static characters.
English been my second language I found myself consulting the dictionary often, that was an added value.
I enjoyed the story, the way it was written and many of the concepts like the need for balance in power, the preconceptions about other kind of beings, the love for animals but the total disregard for human or elves or fairy lives.
I don't care for this new system of a book in deliveries I like to buy a book and read it but I guess it's like a trial size ir you don't like the product you don't buy the rest of the story...
Great storyline, explains more of the sustaining power of Melissa Wright as an author. You definitely need to read these books in the order written. Be assured that convoluted as first, and second books are, the third one explains very nicely.
Frey's memory is back and she also has her grandfather's power that makes her the most powerful elf in the kingdom. In the 3rd book, Frey has to deal with her past and controlling her new found power, which is not easy. She also has the task in establishing herself as the ruler of the North. Some would like to see her succeed, and others would like to see her fail and will not hesitate to help the process. Luckily she has the help of her companions to help her cope with all this. And then there is her growing relationship with Chevelle...... There are enough twists and turns and an epic battle in this book to keep you reading.
Another great installment in the Frey Saga. It's actually sad that it had to come to an end!!
All in all this was a good series. I enjoyed the characters and the story as a whole. There were some things I didn't like about the books as a series. For one, each book was very short. I finished the whole series in less than a day. I wish she would have just made it one whole book instead of trying to make more money off it by breaking it up into 3 books. I was very disappointed with how the series as a whole ended. I wish there was more action in general instead of using pages and pages explaining how she as feeling. I get it, she is confused, she is trying to come to terms with her memory being taken and then given back. I get it, she doesn't know what to do about Chevelle, but do we really have to spend pages hearing about it? It just started bugging after a while.
In the end, I did like the book. I liked the magical elements she brought. It was interesting and I found myself wanting more of that. I thought it was cool that this was a book about elves that though humans didn't exist. That was a cool twist that I haven't seen often. I would definitely read more of her series based in this land. I just hope next time she writes more about the land and magic then about the little dramas.
