I just finished reading Deadly Reflections, the first of a trilogy. This was a fascinating plot of murder, revenge, and romance. The characters are well developed, and the author leads you through a maze of tangles to a surprising outcome. Even better is the setting is around northeast Pennsylvania where we lived for 10 years---all the locations were nice memories of our time there.If you want a good read that will keep you turning the pages, this is it. The best part --- Book 2, Deadly Revenge, is due out February 2012.

Deadly Triad Book One Deadly Reflection ISBN 9781612520551, Desert Breeze Publishing, Inc, e-book by Nancy Kay is a Romantic Mystery with an interesting plot.
Cassi Burke has returned to the small town of Pine Bluffs to visit her aunt and takes her large, newly acquired, mostly untrained dog for a walk in the woods. Suddenly, the animal bolts dragging her to a partially concealed body. Here, he grabs a knife from the corpse, which Cassi wrestles from his mouth at the precise moment Nick McGraw charges through the underbrush to investigate the commotion. Confronted with an armed person and a corpse, Nick, a visiting Homicide Detective from Philadelphia, responds as would be expected. Having no jurisdiction to proceed, however, he calls in the local police and attempts to stay out of the ensuing investigation. (He also is related to the police Chief, local detectives and others.) Because his attraction to Cassi is electric, and since most facts seem to disassociate Cassi from involvement in the homicide, the relationship quickly escalates. Several complications arise that cast doubt on Cassi's innocence and Nick is confronted with the nightmare situation that initiated his having taken a leave from his job to come back here to try to heal psychologically. To provide more details would not be in the best interest of prospective readers.
With respect to my overall impression, I believe a little explanation is in order. I have read Romance novels only when I have acquired them for review, judging, or other. However, there have been a sizeable number of these, and some of the more recent ones I have enjoyed more than others. The most likely reason for this I just recently have learned - the romantic suspense genre is `loosening- up' and has acquired a larger number of sub-genres than the old traditional publishers allowed. Nancy Kay is an author who seems to have capitalized on this fact. She has produced a bit of mystery mixed with sensual heat, but in a manner that emphasizes the "romantic" aspect. Thus, she has provided an interesting mystery, a `different' plot , a well written story that moves along at an excellent pace; and a modern sexual relationship that is beautifully enough portrayed to conjure up thoughts of `romance' as portrayed in an earlier time.
If the rest of the books in this series are as enjoyable as this one, romance readers on any level, or of any generation, can look forward to an extended period of enjoyable entertainment. Reviewed by John H. Manhold, award winning fiction/non-fiction author,
Seriously, the first line goes like this ... "Not bothering to shave, Nick McGraw pulled on shorts and yanked on a tee shirt." If there ever were a first sentence to grab my attention, that was it. Nick's character was oh so yummy and I just couldn't get enough of him. Cassi is a fiercely independent woman with an inner strength which are must have qualities to me in a leading lady. There are several examples I could give but all would give away a part of the book. I can say, however, the sensual tension between Nick and Cassi is electric. Sparks fly off one another when they are in close proximity. I held my breath during each encounter they had with each other and continued to want more throughout the book.
There was a remarkable plot twist in the story that was very unexpected. I found this twist to be fantastically planned out. The villain was dark, twisted, demented and a character I loved to hate. The stalker's voice throughout the scenes was very prominent and dark. A vast difference from Cassi's, which made all of the scenes with the stalker so believable and edgy.
Deadly Reflection is the type of book I couldn't put down. My favorite elements of this book were the progression of drama and the increasing suspense. Nancy Kay set the perfect pace, included characters that I became personally invested in and blew my mind with the ending. What more could a girl ask for? This particular author has a fantastic ability to weave a story in such a way that I hated to see it end. Which is why I was pleasantly surprised that Deadly Reflection is book one in the Deadly Triad series. Yessssss! Look for book two Deadly Revenge to hit shelves on February 1, 2012. Highly recommended seems like such a cliche' label when giving my opinion of this book. My opinion is so much higher. Deadly Reflection is a book that you just can't miss. I absolutely loved this multi-faceted story. Anything Nancy Kay writes from now on will be an automatic add to my "have to have" books.
